OK, so I’m over at the WordPress main page and I caught this “science” post as a featured post (click pics for larger screenshot):
So I click on over to the site, the ominous “Eyes in the Shadow”:
The article was only mildly interesting, but I was astounded at how much traffic this site was getting. Here is a screenshot of their visitor stats:
Wow. Almost 800,000 visitors.
But then, my conspiracy radar came up. Does this site really attract that many visitors? It seemed unlikely. I clicked on the stat, hoping Sitemeter would not have it set as private.
Here is a screenshot of the “real” stats:
Did you catch the last line below the stats?
I think I smell a conspiracy.
UPDATE:
I left a comment on the site’s ABOUT page pointing out the obvious lie. I figured the site owner would delete the comment, so here is a screenshot before the deletion:
As it says on the site: The Truth is Contagious
ANOTHER UPDATE
Well, I guess the lying conspiracy buff decided to try and hide his deceit. He now has taken off the live link to sitemeter.
So here’s the direct link to his stats (I’m cool like that.)
ANOTHER UPDATE:
He continues to delete my comments. Here’s the screen shot of the now gone comments:
